Black screen, no eject, v7 help
Black screen, no eject, v7 help –
12-27-2004,11:36 PM
I tried to put a duo2se into a v7 gh-022 mb and it black screened, and the eject light doesn't light up. It does for a quick second then goes out and there is no blue light nor does it eject when the button is pressed and it doesn't even look like it tried to spin.
I've now taken the chip completely out and I still get the same thing. What area should I be checking to make sure there is nothing wrong. I've checked all the bios pins a zillion times for solder joins as I thought this was the most common area for black screens but what would cause the eject light not to work as well?
Any help would be appreciated. I've done a bunch of these duo2se's and they're been pretty good until now.

Check the CD/DVD controller points, which if I'm not mistaken, are probably the points on the backside of the motherboard and near the big chip topside. I had a similar thing happen with a Matrix Infinity and V3; due to the size of my iron and the close proximity of the components, I accidentally heated a up a capacitor (brown SMD component) and popped it off. Confused, I just bridged the connection with a piece of wire and it ended up giving me the black screen with no eject/light. The second I removed the bridge all was fine, even without the capacitor!

Found out it was the capacitor where i soldered the power onto shorted out and blew PS4 which I replaced. I left the capacitor off for the moment and it boots ok but the cd only spins if I start it with my finger. :S
