Black bars on a magic 3 install
Black bars on a magic 3 install –
01-21-2003,11:25 PM
I have a version 5/6 here and a version 7 that I have modded with magic 3.1. On both boxes everything seems to work fine with the exception that I see a black bar about an inch or less thick on the left side of the screen. This shows up during all game play (ps1, ps2, cd, dvd, etc...), but not during dvds. I can't tell if it shows up during the config/browser screen as they are too dark to see it.
Any help would be great. I did a search but nothing came up that I could tell had to do with this problem though I thought I remembered someone else having it before.

Can someone at least tell me if they have ever heard of this happening regardless of whether you have a fix or not? Thanks guys that would be great.

Here are three pictures with two different orginal games. The magic 3.1 chip was in sleep mode for one of them and still the image was messed up. If you look to the left there is a distinct black bar that goes all the way up and down the screen. The right side does not have this. This happend on three ps2s as I have said, and was not apparent before the mod. Also it shows up on all other tvs I have tried as well. Thanks for your help.

You guys probably got clones. Any of you got pictures of the chip?

NO pics, I had someone install it. If I remember right, it was blue. DO you think a different chip would fix the problem?
