Bios Flashing

has any one tried flashing the bios on the ps2 to allow it to play backups or does it not work.

i was wondering because if you can i want to try it i think it would be alot better than havint wire trailing all over the main board.

though my knowledge is limited i suppose you could program a new bios chip, remove the old and put in the new. But i dont think its worth the hassle.
