I've just installed my first ever modchip into a ps2 (messiah 2 in a V5 pal). I followed Charlies instructions it took me 9 hours over 2 days but i'm pleased to say it worked first time. I'd never never heard of solder paste until i started this (amazing stuff). The CLK wire problem was solved by running the wire right round the edge of the mainboard to the original CLK point.

Thanks for the great instructions and may the force be with you.

Congradulations, not an easy task. I ruined my old PSX trying, never tried again. I'll leave it to the pro's.

I have to agree, Charlie_ps2 has helped a multitude of newbies install their first mod chip, plus he's helped and given great insight to the pros like myself. I'm a mod chipper from way back, but from reading all the posts and stickys from Charlie, I learn something new every day.
Lets hope that Charlie keeps up his great work and support for many years to come and I would like to thank Charlie personally.
    Regards,
    Relayer

P.S. Congrats to Joe194b on a successfull install. Give yourself a pat on the back, well done my friend.

DOH, i never did the green screen fix so i've taken it apart again and that I.C is so small i can't get a razor blade between legs any tips on soldering this link. Could solder splashes on that I.C cause permanent damage to the ps2.

    Thanks in advance

Yes, put a smidgin of solder on the end of the wire first(this end will solder to the leg) but don't solder it to the leg yet. Now solder the wire to ground in a position that is equal to that fourth leg along on the chip, so you can then position the wire on the leg(this is so you don't have to hold the wire when soldering to this small leg). Now, after you have positioned the wire on the leg just touch it momentarily with your soldering iron. The tiny bit of solder you first put on the end of the wire should have bonded to the leg, and you have your RGB fix. But don't do this if you don't feel confident, it's not worth ruining your PS2 over an RGB fix especially as you've been so patient chipping it. The v5 RGB fix can be quite difficult, so be careful.

use white correction fluid on the legs either side of the ic point you want to solder.

once the fluid is dry solder will only stick to the leg you want to solder to the fluid is not conductive and can be left or it just crumbles with light gentle scrapes.
