I know that with CD-R's writing at lower speeds gives a more accurate burn. Is this the case with DVD-R's? I have read that it is but I have also seen it mentioned that to get the most accurate burn on a DVD-R you should write at the speed the disc is graded at. What is the best speed to write my PS2 games at, that will put least stress on my PS2? I use Ritek G04 discs.

    Thanks in advance

Good, I've been burning them all at 1x anyway. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing my PS2 more harm than good aswell the writing process taking much longer.

As stated on other threads, there are some media (Pioneer is one), which recommend buring at their top speed and not at 1x.

My friends and I have backed up MANY PS2 games using Ritek's and burning them at 4x with no issues. I've had my PS2 for ages and have never had any laser issues.

Yeah, I don't think slower=better burn. I always use Ritek G03 which is tested at 1x in my burner, but everything works perfectly at 2x, so I cut 30 minutes off my burn. I say go at the fastest speed that works for you. And just *how* is slower better??

Ditto, on everything. My Sony DVD writer can burn quite easily 4X on DVD but I prefer to play it safe on 2X as my inlaws Pioneer 105 has spat out a few burning at 4X recently.

maybe they recommended to copy and burn at a slower speed when the computers where not that capable of handling fast data transfer with a low rate of data error, but with the highspeed ram and fast cpus now I have no problem and frankly never did with reading and burning at max speed. ( I do sometimes have to read at a slower speed, depends how many scratches my sun put on the disc HAHA),
