Best playstation Version

I did have a quick search, and if i missed it pls tell me (crappy search tool <_<)

Anyway, i waz wondering whats the best version ps2, what the pro's and cons are about them, and if i were to get a ps2, what should i aim for

Please dont include v12 (i want hdd )

So far all i know is
v1+ 2 Hard to install as a board is soldered on and hard to get off

V4 Good except lazer isnt that good

Any help would be appreciated

V7 .. has good laser, easy install, no burn outs of the 9/10/12s

The v5-v7 are good if you dont have a sanyo laser. The v9-v10 seem to do good with the romeo mod. Avoid the v11 because it has a special laser. The v4's seem to do well though their laser is bad. A ps2 is pretty much a ps2. In the UK you should be able to find the Satin Silver unit. I have a v9 ps2 with a romeo mod and matrix infinity and it does ok I guess. I would get a v7-v10 ps2 if I were you. I hope this helps.

Im prolly gonna "try" and get it second hand from *groans* game

The satin silver is either v9-v11. The v11 is the one to avoid due to the laser being not compatible with the other ones.

Well im still looking for a ps2

why did they become so hard to find (im in britain)

I rly want the damn thing but some people are soo expensive (im watchin a few on ebay now )

version 6 is great. my V6 has been to hell and back, forced to read shitty cd-r's/dvd-r's, three years later and its still rockin like its the 70's

Maybe becuase people want the older version and they think its better than the slim one. Plus they include games and other stuff. Keep looking cause I saw a nice 50003 on ebay. UK that you might like. In japan they still sell the old ps2 because they got full hdd support from a program called PlayStation BB Navigator. Since the new one cant support it they are making it so that if their unit breaks they can get a new one. Some online importers sell it but it's expensive. The o2mod isn't compatible on ntsc consoles though. I hope this helps.

He wants an older ps2 not the new one due to him wanting hdd support.
