Best ModChip VGA Wise
As the title says, which is the best/most compatible ModChip to this date for making use of the PS2 VGA mode ?
I just want to hook my PS2 (SCPH-30004, MODBO 5.0 v1.93) to my CRT Monitor (Dell p1130, SoG capable)
The problem is that when I enable VGA mode some games are stretched, cropped or suffer from other problems.
I just found about Thunder Pro II Gold Edition and I wonder if it's better with VGA output than MODBO 5.0
I'm just interested in 480p no other high resolutions as 1080i or anything else.
Also, does the above mentioned modchip (TPIIG) upscale the internal game's resolution or it just "fools" the VDAC into that resolution ?
Either way or another if it doesn't crops/stretches/whatever the game's aspect ratio etc. I'm more than happy with it.
I just want to have the whole screen filled up over the VGA without borders and stuff.

There's no need to use modchips to do that. There are softwares like HDTV Xploder and GSM which do an excellent job in this area.
The VGA mode inside modchips like Matrix and its clones (including MODBO) are nothing but a doubler-lines, that's why many games don't work well in VGA mode. Thunder Pro-II instead do a very good job, but it has in fact HDTV Xplorer software within it.

I know about Xploder and GSM but it's too much of a hassle... I've tried GSM and on some games it gave me better results then the VGA mode of the ModChip.
The thing is that the ModChip allows me to have the PS2 connected to the monitor in the browser and anywhere I want. No need to switch to TV or blindly boot the games etc.
Plus Xploder can't be used with HDLoader... or that's what I've heard. It's quite a pain to take my PS2 to the TV-set, switching cables and back and forth and so on...
I wish I haven't thrown my old CRT TV... :( But it took too much space... CRT TV's are AWESOME!
I was curious about that Thunder PRO II Gold ModChip if it were more compatible with VGA then MODBO 5.0... or any other chip
