Hi,
Having read heaps of posts Im more confused than ever....
I live in Adelaide Australia, have a new Christmas ToysRus Hotpack PS2 SCPH-75002a slimline black console and am looking to mod it.
Probably only for playing backup copies but who knows....maybe HDD and online later.
Theres the "soft mod option" with the swap magic cd and plastic bits..
Theres my 2 local mod installers one has the H20 the other the Crystal
And the variouse ones i have read about
M3 magic mushroom- mushroom shaped one
Myth chip 600
DMS4
Matrix infinity (green dot?)
I guess Im leaning towards the matrix infinity or the crystal but hey im open to any suggestions especially from anyone who has installed mods in this unit and has direct experience with them and the mods they installed and any feedback from them or customers any probs etc.
TNX any help grteatly apreciated.....Shandor

Thanks I was leaning towards the Matrix, Any sugestions where the best place to buy it is. Ive looked at MOD-CHIP.com and they have a special offer of the Matrix Infinity Green dot + the NeoFix Xiii laser current limiter and a wire kit +manual for AU$62.00 ,does this sound about the price? Are there cheap copies of this chip I need to be careful about? TNX again .Cheers Shandor

Crystal have to much bugs, just like bit M$.
thay depending on that it's upgradable, and make rush releases full of bugs.
how the H*LL you release a bug that stack in a loop of waiting to memory card and giving a black screen, it's so lame bug that it shows there is no tests at all!

What about the DMS4 PRO SE ? That seems to be a good chip also and looking through the posts, has less probs than the matrix...Cheers

reason for that is because dms mods r not supported here, personaly havent had a problem with 1 but get few from customers that try to install em and dont work because they r rather touchy bout placement and lenght of wires. best not to get this mod if ur 1st installion

Running the same PS2 (75002a) from a PS2 Hot Pack, bought it at a Toys-R-Us in Perth
I have a crystal 1.1 in this, runs completely stable and trouble free with everything except PS1 backups (which at the moment just stall at a black screen). Hopefully next firmware will fix PS1, as this (Firmware 19) is the first firmware with PS1 support on the V14, though I'm not too bothered if PS1 support isn't there as I don't use it.
Anyhow I ordered it from http://www.acegamestore.com/ a few days prior to christmas and it arrived within 48hours, so I was really quite impressed with the speed of dispatch and the price was better than anywhere else $45 (Aussie Dollars) including express postage.
You don't need a laser fix on the v14 either... so don't stress about that.
You should be happy with any of the following chips though. All have their fans and have all the basic features well covered.
Matrix Infinity (Green Dot)
Crystal 1.1
Ghost2 (Version 2)
DMS4 SE Lite.
Lastly, as far as I'm aware, there's currently no solution for using a HDD on a V14.

No probs with DMS4 on SCPH75002a or any other PS2.
Best chips are the DMS4 and the Matrix Infinity.
Best cheap chip is Myth(clone of MI).
