Before you adjust the laser...
Before you adjust the laser... –

I have a V4 NTSC Ps2 with a DMS3 v2 (1.8 firmware) and a Liteon 451s burner. I have spent the past week trying to make back ups of True Crime and Tiger Woods 2004 on Princo (Comp Usa) 1x DVD-R. Sometimes the game would boot, sometimes it wouldn't. I read and read about needing to adjust the laser, so that's what I tried but to no avail. I reset it to the original positions.
But tonight I may have found the answer (at least for me). I went and bought some different media; Sony -R and Maxell +R. The Sony -R same results as before, the Maxell +R boots every time. My thoughts are Princo DVD-R good & cheap for DVD movies but not good for back ups. Spend a little more on media before going nuts on the laser.

of course people need to consider that. too many people are under the impression that brand x dvd media works in all ps2's, and if it doesnt work in theirs, they need to make it work.

I actually recently bought some Maxwell CDr's also and they boot every time compared to what I was using before , I also was adjusting laser, but then my laser wasnt reading orig dvds, but i think you have to check media, even if you swap a couple of blank cds with a mate if he has a different brand
