My version seven board has no blown fuses but I looked at chip BA6664FM (located where the reset/eject ribbon plugs in) and counted the legs from the small dipple. Leg 8 (right after the large piece of metal on the side of the chip) when checked with a meter emits a sound. I put the lead on the leg and one near where the screws attach to the board. Now chip BA5815FM located at the bottom of the board leg 19 does the same thing.

Have I done this right? Are the chips fired? Fuses are all okay. System is new and I was putting in a modchip.

my multimeter doesnt make noise, what would the resistance reading be if the BA chips are dead? and also, if my PS11 fuse is reading about 4 or 5 ohms of resistance is it ok? all other fuses read 0 ohms.

Yes, I counted from the small dipple on BA6664FM (located where the reset/eject ribbon plugs in) pointing to the center of the board up to pin #8 in the direction of where the reset/eject ribbon is and it is grounding.

So the BA chip is shot? Can a repair place fix this?

You cant do that test on the BA6664FM as pin 8 is to earth it will only work on the BA5815FM, very rare for the BA6664FM to go

Then I'm confused as to why the eject button doesn't work. No light but when pressed it will turn the reset button from red to green.

are you sure ps11 has not blown, also is the reset cable perfect and on the reset and eject switch fine

I think i would still be looking at the BA5815FM chip
    and the ps11 fuse

No eject is probably because of a damaged BA5815 and not BA6664. Rapaired some dozens with that problem, sometimes the fuse near to the BA5815 is also gone, but not everytime. So check the BA5815 first, on that the leg8+ground test WORKS but not on BA6664.

    regards, Stephen

you will get a noise or continuity
from you meter if you check the BA5815Fm if blown whnen on leg 8 and a earth point, but his may not happen all the time it can still read ok and have gone
