Well, does the eject light come on?
BA58 is most likely dead, maybe even BA66...
Get a multimeter and see if you get any continuity between Pin 8 of BA58 and GND point, if you do it's dead.
LiquidCell knows a bit more about how to check whether it's dead or not, so you'd have better luck PMing him about it.

ive never ever seen a damaged ba66 and ive seen alit of dead ps2's all pointers do indicate to either a dead ba or ba fuse that has blown.

do you even no what the ba6 control's ? not trying to have a go but i specialise in console repair and neve came across a dead ba6 and thats alot of ps2's ive seen unless it us indeed a rare occurence
and testing pin 8 power to ground is not reliable it can still not short to ground and the ba can be dead but if it does short you can be 100% sure it is dead and need's replacing along with the fuse beside it.

I don't really know what it controls but mine died because I sort of overheated my board once, yeah.
I just said that it is a possibility if you somehow **** up somewhere. (i.e. solder on the wrong spot)

okkkkkkk so you dont know the ba6 died it controls the spindle and break on the motor that spins the disc and you cant really overheat it it runs at a stable temp with or without a heat pad.
