you had the input on your tv set to pal hence only the ps2 was in b&w i still could be way wrong but you said it faded so i cant see it being this.

prolly yanked a little too hard on the controllers and it popped the av plug out slightly..

dog came running pulling the video cable up to the point where the ground potential was no longer in contact with the connector on the tv, but the signal connection was still plugged.

had the setting messed on the ps2 config
