B&W Display!

Arrrrrrrrrr, I gots an interestin' one fer ya me hardies! The other day the missuz and I was a playin' Baldur's Gate II fer the second time through already (Aye, tis a blessedly WONDERFUL game too!) when a suddenly, me picture slowly faded ta black and white! At first I thoughts me TV was on the fritz...but that twasn't it. Everything but me PS2 (V7 w/DMS3) was in color. So can any of ye guess what the problem was???

On a side note, I've had yon problem fixed. I'm just a testin' everybody else's metal 'ere. And sorry, LOD, ye are exempt from answerin' a this one.

hmmmmmm strange one either the game has a fade in black and white scene.

or somehow the ntsc pal patching was somehow instigated contained in the dms3 software.

yon fault on the rgb or rf unit had a short occur or a wire was loose.

i could go on many fault's could have caused this.

dog was sat on the remote turning contrast up :D

har har har, those be some very well though out answers there Ent. One was almost close! I'll give yon answer tomorrow, let's see if'n anybody gets the answer right though....remember, it'll be something, obvious to the trained mod-user. har har har

ok it was a pal game the unit was colour linked from the video encoder to force ntsc output on all region formats this had a cracked joint as it heated up the short seperated causing the fading effect i could be way off but it's hard without having the system to diagnose.

but it really could be one of many things.

or you were using an old psx rf lead and had the switch in between tv and game.

or there wasnt a problem at all and you had another console or dvd player plugged into just one rgb input causing interfeirence

Original BGII game NTSC on a NTSC unit.
PS2 V7 (DMS3)
Hooked up to Dennen surround sound system and Toshiba 36" flat screen TV

was it actually a fault on the ps2 or something you did to create the desired result ahhhhh toshiba best TV manufacturer in the buiz for port's galore :) i added more possible causes also above.

sooooooo your saying the ps browser was also in bw

another one you had the rf cable inserted into the phono sockets and something else in the rgb socket at the back toshiba are notorious for shring front and rear port's

You have installed the color fix to your NTSC PS2. The fix is connected to a resistor on top and to 3.45V on the other point(NTSC fix). The point on 3.45 got loose, but you couldnt see it cause you were playing an NTSC game. You are using your PS2 vertically and gravity slowly pulled the loose wire towards the metal plates(ground). Tada! You got yourself a PAL color fixed NTSC PS2, hence the B/W.

disable mod does it have color if so then firmware= fault

that's what i thought but the colour carrier should be fixed even after boot i aint tested but you could do so with a 3 pole switch to see if colour does change real time.

Loy, yes it happend on all games Orig, CD, DVDr

Fellas...twas not a NTSC/Pal color fix anything. I will say that much. Ent you are the warmest in yer theories.
