I was wondering what do most people use to attach their chips to the board? Would it be ok to hot glue it to the board or is there some better way to do it?

No hot glue. If the chip faulty, it very hard to take it off. normal double sided tape ok. If you solder the ground at a good place, the chip can be attach to the board by a short wire to ground.

It's hard for the chip to move anywhere if you use short wire and the wire holds the chip in place. Tape won't melt off cause it's not hot enough but it does get loose. It still depends on which tape you use. The tape I use is pretty sticky and it actually takes some strength to remove it. I got some Permanent Double Sided Tape from Scotch.

Double sided tape is alright.... but don't use the thin stuff. I use the 'poofy' double sided sticky tape that is almost as thick as velcro strips. Its just sticky enough to hold the chip in place firmly and not risk damage if I have to move/remove it.

The brand I got was 3m and it came in little squares.

If you are brave, you can use blue sticky tack to hold the chip in place... but it might be hard to get that stuff back off the ps2 mobo if you have to go back in there again.
