Man, just buy some kynar, it's not like it's that expansive anyway. ATA can work, but so does gluing the wire directly to the motherboard with hot glue.

They are a little too big. I tried using them before. I believe they're AWG26. Just get some kynar 30 awg. It'll be easier on you.

Well, I would get some if I can find some.

I live in Romania, even a decent soldering iron is hard to get, forget about double sided tape and flux. ATA cables are quite common, on the ones that I have it states 30 AWG so I supposed they're fine.
I went to the biggest electronics supplyer in my city and probably the best in Romania and when I asked about Kynar AWG30 they told me that I'm nuts and they don't ubderstand nor Chinese nor Japanese and I should ask at one of the Chinese restaurants in the city, they should have it.
If I go for something that's common in a TV set or "common" electronics it's fine otherways the don't have it.
I have tryed on a PC mobo, it's hard but I would get used to it. I will try with ATA133 maybe they're thinner.

Thanks a helluva lot for your input.
    Best regards,
    k.

They don't have ANY awg 30 wires in Romania? You don't HAVE to get kynar. You just have to get any AWG30 wires.

But if you don't want to waste any money on wires then it's ok. You could use the IDE cable and it should work fine. I did once. But I found that AWG30 wires are better than the IDE cables I had.

Dear people in Romania the only AWG 30 is in IDE cables.
    That's all.
I've found some thinner wire in some UW SCSI wire I guess that's AWG or SWG 32 but I won't destroy a SCSI cable that costs as much as the damn modchip.

Ordering online will cost me pretty much, because the bank will skin me $20 for the money transfer.

Thanks for the input, soon I'll mod my PS2 and let you know how I performed maybe I'll post some picz.

    Best regards to you all.
