no, i didn't install a mod, i simply took one out ages before leaving some solder on each point (no shorts)...
and now i just got my ps2 working, when when i press reset, eject light doesn't turn on, and when i turn on with the eject button, same thing, black screen for the ps2.. and i can never eject the tray, no laser mechanism...
    any ideas?
    all PS fuses OK.

Yeah sound like your BAF chip is stuffed! Check the fuse by the chip if it is blown then chances are the BAF chip is stuffed also.

If it's not the BA chip (see the FAQ/Guides section for info on that) then it could be either or both of:

1 The Reset/Eject ribbon cable isn't properly clamped in or is damaged

2 One of the disk cables isn't properly clamped in or damaged

    keep us posted

like I was telling you this morning, in that pic, look @ the top right of the BA58 chip, that is pin 2, count down on the left in 2s, so 2, 4, 6, and 8 until you are @ pin 8 (4th pin down on the right).

Put one end of your multimeter on PIN8 of the BA58, and put one end on GND/GROUND (orange area around the board). If you get a constant reading/continuity result, then your BA58 is dead, just for the hell of it, do the exact same check on BA66 (lower left of the board)

no continuity between the 8th pin and the ground point...
only on the 10th pin there IS continuity, on the BA58.

i highly doubt that's the problem if i'm getting no eject light, but i'll check..
and charlie, can you point me to where i'm supposed to look in the FAQs section? because i can't find anything on the BA chip..
