Apple chip doesn't work with Network Adaptor! –
Just got the following PS2...
Model # SCPH-30001R
Date Code: 2A
and was about to send it away to get chipped with an Apple chip. But one of the posts got me a little scared. Apparantly the Apple Chip doesn't work with the Network Adaptor!!! There has been some speculation that it will work using the "PS1 boot method", but this is yet to be confirmed.
Can anyone verify this statement? If it's true what "no-swap" chips will work with the Network Adaptor? Can anyone suggest a chip that will work with the above model? According to modchip.ca I have either a version 5 or 6. Due to the "R" and a screw located in the expansion bay.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
"However, it would NOT boot my network startup disc. Sometimes it would start to boot (displaying that messed up PS2 logo, the known quirk of the chip) then freeze on a black screen, other times I just get the red screen. Now, this is not really a big deal since all my games booted, and I used SOCOM to setup my network config save file, but I was wondering if this issue was mine alone."
taken from another thread, i do hope this helps. so it works with the netwirk adapter but just doesn't like the NA disc for some odd reason but richcy manage to load the NA dic using the PSX method. so u sjould e-mail him/her.
"try using the network adapter in ps1 mode and it will work. Eventhough it is a dvd disk it will boot the network adapter disk in ps1 mode[cdr mode]."
