Anyone try the alt Scex point with a M2 for V1,2 PS2, the orig is confusing me!
I've been reading up a lot on the Scex point for a V1/2 PS2. It seemed a little confusing, something about being in-between the PCB, so I searched for an alternate point. This is what I found:
ALT SCEX POINT
I read from numerous people that they had success with this point, but that was with Magic2's. I have yet to find someone use this point for a Messiah2. Unlike Messiah2's website, foundmy points out alternate points on their diagrams. Take a look at this:
FOUNDMY V1 DIAGRAM
If you look closely at where the alternate Scex point would be in the diagram above, you can see that the alt Scex point has been soldered to. So I'm guessing foundmy has tested this point, with no success since it doesn't show it as an alternate point.
So again I went back into figuring out what the deal was with the origonal Scex point. All the info I have found out was really confusing me. Some posts mention that you have to seperate the two boards by desoldering 4 points on the board. Well I'm not sure what they are talking about, all I see is one dual sided board. If you look at ALL the diagrams given by the Magic, Apple, and Messiah modchip makers, all they show is the solder point being on the other side of the board. Here is an example, the Messiah2 diagram:
OTHER SIDE
I found other diagrams that indicated that the point was just plainly on the other side. Like this one:
OTHER SIDE2
Conclusion:
From what I have read, the instructions to getting to the Scex point are really confusing. Yet from what I see in the pictures, it's just a matter of flipping over the mainboard and soldering to some point just like you would with any other. So what's the heck is going on? Could someone please clear up my confusion!!! Would love to see a picture of this complicated process ;). Also anyone try the alt Scex point with their messiah2?
