hmmm..that kinda sucks, esp since i would like to use my ps2 as a dvd player as well...so I think i might cancel my order now, damn this magic2...=) ...would you guys reccomend going for an Apple chip then? ps2newz gave it good marks and it seems to be pretty stable as far as everyone is saying...
Yeah =/ –
This really does kind of tick me off. I wanted to get a fixed Magic 2 as well, seeing as people had SO many good things to say about them. Now it turns out they can't even play DVD movies well!
I'd like a messiah clone for V7 that is up to par if you guys ever come across one. Right now, Magic 2 just doesn't have the magic.
I'll wait for Cyclone for my V7... I hope it doesn't take too much time....
"everything works for me now. including backup imports excluding import originals (due to the fact i have none... but im sure they work anyways)"
Don't make that asumption. Import originals use a different type of mastering, resulting in a wavey groove, and I think has worse results with the US laser. I have had a great deal of trouble with import originals - fails to load many times, then very slow seeking. Often it'll crap out while playing a game (blinking red light and all).
DVD choppiness happened on my fixed V7 modchip when booting with HOLD RESET till blue light goes on. However, if I Power on with a DVD inside it works smoothly. Bottom line, the M2 fixed chip works.
Actually modchip.ca recommends powering on the PS2 empty. Go to the browser, then insert your DVD and it should work fine that way. Since my way works, I have not tried the recommended modchip.ca method yet.
