I think the only way you can fix your problem is the 37-pin mod. You need two Matrix Infinity though. A good one and your bad one.

I did the procedure on my PS2 as a test and it seems to be a special boot mode to recover bad flashes. The update disc boots directly to the manager without showing the PS2 logo (much like a fast boot but you don't need to press anything on the joypad).Originally Posted by precisionmods
It only works with the update cd though, all other discs give a black screen.
I would try to reflash it and see if you get a successfull flash that way.
Hmmm, maybe the Infinity Team did implement an emergency backdoor to recover the chip once a flash goes bad. Give it a try precisionmods. I'm interested in the results.
Well, the mod was installed in another unit with no problems.Didn't get a chance to test recovery methods.
All i get now is a black screen!
Tryed the recover rutine and nothing.
Tryed with the cd v1.2, 1.21, and 1.3 and nothing.
tryed to recover routine with traiangle pressed to see if it will run from memory card, in which i got ver 1.21 and nothing.
A flashable chip without fallback is a real ****ed up one, for my opinion!!!![]()

email the matrix team they would know how.
I emailed them yesterday, and still no response!!!

Did you read this thread?
Once again, from the official website :
"If for any reason you abort the programming of the Firmware, just turn off the PS2 and turn it back on by pressing the reset button until blue light is ON. You can now proceed to reprogramm the Firmware."
You just need the latest firmware upgrade iso from their website. Put the disk in and turn off the PS2. Press reset to turn it on and keep it pressed for a few seconds. The upgrade disc should boot this way.
I have tried this and it works so just keep doing the procedure until it boots.
If u read my first message, youll'd know i've tryed it with every upgrade version inc ver 1.3 with no success.
I think it's not smart to have fall-back system in this kind of chip.

well xcalibur teknoz said he recovered from the same situation. by doing what the matrix team say's to do. there must be a reason why you cannot. has anyone else had success recovering from a bad flash?
