    I've noticed issues when u upgrade from f/w 1.3 to 1.6c.This is what I've noticed(tested on PAL ps2 with DMS3 v2.0):
    1)NTSC PSX game boots in black & white,& not full screen,so no auto colour correction.
    2)Dvd movies(back-up) boot in black & white,although its not a ntsc region movie,its local.
    3)Dvd movies do not boot 100% in the ps2 mode,but still boot ok if the square button(dvd mode) is pressed on the controller on start-up.

    I would like people thoughts & opinions on this,as I think leaving the f/w to 1.3 is probably more reliable.

    well 1.6 is obviously in a beta stage, but most people have reported no or little problems with the 1.6 firmware...

    i haven't heard of any other peoples having any toubles that you are having with the dvds.. although the psx and dvd b/w problems seem related, i'm sure that lot of psx issues that ppl ahve been having with 1.6 will be resolved in 1.7

    My console is PAL and I tried some psx NTSC games on my ps2
    picture on screen moved upward a bit, I can see only 2/3 of the picture. is it normal? or is there anything I can do about it?

    I got the DMS3 chip today, and experiencing the same problems.
    With my PAL PS2,
    PSX NTSC games are playing in color, but can only see
    85% of the screen, the rest is over the screen.
    Games with screen configuration can lower it, but there are a lot of games which hasn't this option.
    DVD NTSC Discs are playing in full-screen, but in b/w.
    It's no option for changing the color format to PAL with DMS3.
    Using DMS 1.6c

    Downgrade to V1.3,then the psx games will load in colour & full-screen again
    And just do the wire link to get colour correction on ntsc games(ps2),otherwise u need to hold R1 on controller on startup each time with V1.6c to force it into PAL colour
