  1. #1 ??? Any Apple chip experts out there?
    MackIII Guest
I just installed an Apple chip in a PS2 ver 1, 020 bios system that previously had a Magic 2 (red board) in it. The Magic2 was professionally installed The only reason I swapped it out was because the magic chip was some what intermittent in it's ability to load games. Sometimes I would it the "RED" screen and then sometimes it would load perfect. So, I figured since my other PS2 unit (V7) had an Apple chip in it and works great, I would try one in my Version 1 and see if the Apple chip would work better than my Magic 2.

Now that I installed the Apple chip it is worse than the Magic was. All games will boot to the "Playstation" logo and than screen goes black. I may have had maybe one or two games (GTA vice, and Silent Scope) to boot into the game, past the Playstation logo but then it starts to lock up and freeze on both video and audio.

I used the diagrams on the Apple website for my V1 system and have the correct chip but still no go. I even tried a second Apple chip and still the samething.....boots to "Playstation and goes blank.

Anyone else with this problem or know what I might do to correct this??????

Both of my Apple chips are Apple 1's. They are suppose to be compatable with the V1 system.

I tried GTA Vice both original and backup, Redfation (both), Silent Scope (backup), NCAA 2K3 (original), Smugglers Run (original) etc...All work fine on my PS2 V7 with the Apple chip. And at least I could play them with my Magic 2 chip. It's just that they would not always load with the Magic.

You said not to use #22? I used the voltage point on this diagram for my Version 1.....

I guess, but mine won't do diddley with either. I saw it boot GTA vice backup maybe 2 times and then it freezes and plays for a second or two and then freezes again. Oh well.
