Hi, Im just wondering if the CLK is necessary to be soldered on in order to play backups and such.

Another question...is it bad to test the ps2 upside down with the bottom plate of the motherboard (the steel protective thing off)..I have a v10 and am testing to see if the chips working and I just put the power supply right ontop of the board and try to test the machine upside down, its kinda compicated to put discs in though...just wondering..is this bad for the ps2?

    1) yes clk is needed
    2) its bad to test the system like that. the point of the "steel protective thing" is to displace heat. if you have it off ur system will overheat if you keep it running too long.
my advice: install the chip with all the wires. then put everything back together and go from there.

You know what's weird, one time I did an install and forgot to connect the CLK wire and everything but PS1 games loaded.
The Yellow PS2 auto-boots all. PS2, PS1 stealth and DVD movies.
