alternate v7 install
I've been using these diagrams for installing the magic 2 in a V7
A couple of alternate points are provided but, the 3.3v point is clearly a resistor on here, but on the magic diagrams, it is a via - maybe I've been soldering to the wrong point!
Can anybody clear this up?
Don't do the via. In any case why haven't you been using my specially written Instal Guide for V7 stickied in this forum? tell me, why? Why?
Lol - are those the ones I used as a weapon on the dog after my 3rd failed attempt to install the chip lol. As a novice I would rather leave the chip on the board (if poss). Basically the more I mess with it the more that can go wrong!
Having the wired up chip dangling outside the case when I'm forcing the covers back on is something I'll avoid @ the moment lol.
How do you rate the alternate instructions Charlie?
should use charlie's tutorial in the stickie... that is the first i went to when i got the magic2 chip for my one machine.....
easy explained, and good the first time around. also positioning the chip to the outside of the board, you won't really crush the chip puttin the cover back on... fits nicely between the metal cage and the cover... i think that works best as described in charlie's v7 tutorial/instructions.... :)
... im a nobody.. :p :p
I followed Charlie's instruction word by word. It is the bible of Magic II v7 installation guide. Mine worked the very first time without difficulties. As far as the 3.3v, I used resistor as Charlie recommened without any problem. Your choice man...
There is also an alternative point for 3.3v on a V7. When I get a chance to take a picture, i'll post here. Try tracing the point with a multimeter to find an alternate point.
Also you should find you can tape the Magic 2 to the side of the HDD cage which fits nicely.
