Hi! I want to install DUO on v1, v2, v3. I look the DUO diagrams. About the Z point on v1 ~ v3. Can I solder the Z point directly to the CD/DVD chip? I guess it can but just want to make sure before I do that. Because I heard someone did killed the original Z point when trying to install DUO. Thanks for help.

    Here are the DUO v1, v2, & v3 diagrams

Not sure, but if your tip is fine enough, and cool enough to safely solder to fine pitch pins like those on the controller, I would say that it's safe enough to solder to the listed Z point.

If you're quick about it you won't need to worry.

Actually, now looking at the picture, yes, you could solder Z straight to the appropriate pin on the controller. Look carefully at the diagram, you will find a trace from the Z point to the controller. You definately can solder to the controller chip instead, if you really want to (I would say that's not wise).
