Accidentally burned out the 3.5 slot.
Accidentally burned out the 3.5 slot. –
I was modding my ps2 version 2 with a messiah 2 pro 1.30 and when I was soldering in the 3.5v resistor, I accidentally melted that. From this, I know that I shouldn't touch anymore so, I stopped. I was wondering if there's any local installers out there who can replace this resistor and install the chip for me at a low price.
If I can't find anyone who can do this, I guess I will go to WalMart and exchange the bad ps2 with a newer one to make the local modder happy.
Check the resistor with a multimeter before you decide to replace it. I've melted resistors/caps and they still work fine. Just use an alternate point and you should be fine.
Whoa.. really? well, I guess I'll test it out. Also, will a mod installer be able to work around this? I have put all this together and tried to see if it worked with out the chip but, I get a green light and a black screen. Is it because the reset cable is snagged?
if the resistors/cap is removed .. it should be replaced and it will be find ( if it's the only thing gone wrong ofcos.. ) any knowledgable installer will beable to fix this..
You using a 45watt soldering iron? geez never heard of anyone melting a resister, only cracked ones. You can find resisters on other electronic components.. like a 56k modem just measure the resister with a multimeter and make sure its 2-4 ohms.
Heheh... actually it was a 15w soldering iron.. But, I guess it got pretty hot somehow. Anways, I know you could problably take that resister out of a 56 modem or something but, I don't think I have the patience to do that anymore. Now, I'm just looking for an installer to see if he could do it.
yeh, I knocked off a cap before, and soldered that sucker back on.
if you live near chicago you can stop by my house and i can fix it for ya... 4 a small fee
