You may be screwed but maybe not. If the via you damaged has lost its connection to an inner layer of the board (if it ever had one) you probably can't repair it. If the through plating is still ok and you just removed a surface pad/connection you can try soldering a piece of uninsulated 30AWG wire from the same via on the other side of the board to the trace which was connected to the via you damaged. You'll have to remove some of the solder mask which covers the trace and solder very carefully. Not an easy operation unless you're used to dealing with this type of repair.
You can fix this by using very thin wire i have used enamel wire for this fix in the past you will have to link the via bank to the dvd /cd controller chip just look at the alterantive points on where to attach.
Its abit of a tricky job if u take your time should be ok.
where can i find the alternative points for the cd/dvd control? that pertain to the duo2.
u can look at the corresponding points on other chips. just scrape the via and wire to the pin and the ps2 will boot right up
First if it came off then you have an soldering iron way too hot or your kept the heat on for a long time. I suggest you get it repaired by someone experienced!! The alternate points are more difficult than the via points!
ok i reconnected the trace. i soldered a wire from the trace to the leg on the controler chip that matches the via that i damaged. Now the ps2 will boot. But it wont read any media. when i power it on. I start the ps2 by pushing the eject button. I hear a loud grinding noice. Then the tray will come out. But when i put in a disc it wont spin up. I feel i am on the right track because it wouldnt even boot up before. Any ideas
