what do you think of the new chip DMS3?
I have some thoughts of mine here, let's speak of it:
1) Direct boot of PS2 originals/imports/backups (middle all,
including DVD-9 and fine-disc titles).
It goes well, but now it is standard for all the modchips.
D0oD's Thoughts: Yep
3) Macrovision disabled.
To whom does it interest to copy a DVD on VHS? I think about anybody.
D0oD's Thoughts: Exactly, VHS have much worse quality, and they are just a pain, and the way of the past. If you have a dvd player, play dvds.
4) DVD region free on all versions.
Excellent, from to verify if it works.
D0oD's Thoughts: Useless for us NTSC users, and if a movie is worth seeing, they'll make it for your region anyway....so whats it matter?
5) DivX player built-in
Excellent, but you look at the screens shoot. In practice it is always the MediaPlayer
D0oD's Thoughts: Its not built-in. Its the DMS3 mode. You load players (mp3, divx etc) onto the memory card then it boots from the memory card, using the DMS Explorer instead of booting it from the cd....pretty useless if you ask me
6) Flash upgradable CD (downloadable free from web), to beat future anti-mods
Excellent, we will see.
D0oD's Thoughts: Now this is the only real good thing about the DMS3, if only magic had thought of this...
8) Stealth (chip made invisible) -
D0oD's Thoughts: Where does it say stealth? You have to turn off the modchip, its not stealth. Stealth is when the mod does its job, and cant be detected no matter what. DMS3 has to be turned off just like the Messiah2 or Magic 3.1. Misinformed
9) All consul versions supported....
By now a standard either for Magic that for Messiah.
D0oD's Thoughts: Exactly.
Final thought: a Messiah 2 + an eprom that loads the Mediaplayer. Nothing more.
D0oD's Thoughts: Basically yeah, and a guarantee of if there are bugs, then you can just flash upgrade
I believe is better a Messiah 2 original + the Player on CD.
