About to buy a PS2 Slimline and I have some questions.

I am going to buy me a PS2 Slimline (V12) and I have a few questions about these. I am planning on installing a ***4 lite on it. Is there anything special I have to do to it? Like installing some kind of laser fix or anything or some other fix? And how are the lasers on these? How do they read CDR and DVDR?
Does anyone have a guide on how to take these apart? I am sure that it would not be much of a problem, i just want to make sure I get it back together fine.

OK I know about that. Is the laser fix necessary? What happens if I use/don't use it.

The laser fixes are still unknown right now. People have not found one that works great and has been confirmed with many others yet. Yes your laser might burn if you don't do some of the laser fix available. But some pstwo are burning with the laser fixes as well. Just need couple weeks to calm things down.

By the way, get a Matrix Infinity. ***4 lite is something you should probably stay away from . . . it is a long story. You might want to do some more reading before choosing a chip. Don't even post a ***4 lite vs Matrix Infinity thread because people will recommend you the Matrix Infinity anyways.
