39004 dvd in a 30004R?

Before I connect things up, are the wbove two dvd-rom versions compatible? I'm talking the whole dvd-rom here, not just the laser unit.

I have a 30004R that the seller proclaimed dead, but was easily awoken with some laser adjustments. However, since it's not perfect and I have a brand new 39004 with a dead motherboard aswell I figured I could just swap the units.
