300mph orbs –
04-20-2006,04:38 PM
Hi all
I have an old v4 Pal which I installed a DUO2GT in, after installation, it would boot to the browser screen and the swirling orbs were spinning at light speed, so I tried another DUO chip but the same thing, I then completely removed the chip and cleaned up all installation points, no bridges etc. It is still doing the same thing. Any idea's why these orbs are spinning at 300mph ???

Yes on a V4 - when you pull the station apart you typically disconnect the on board battery back up - the balls spin like that when the console has lost its' configuration.
All you needed to do was re-set the time and date etc and all would have been fine - sounds like you went to a lot of wasted effort though because it does not matter in the end if the install worked... and as setting the time and date is all you need to fix it.

What does it mean when on the browser screen you have one big ball? Does it affect anything?

Same issue - just set the time and date and the spinning balls will come back.
Another thought with the V4 is that if you damaged the bios or shorted out some of the bios legs then this may happen - had something like this once with a V3

had something similar with a V3 with overheated cd/dvd pins
