30001R V4 board –
08-10-2002,09:55 PM
Alright guys I just put a Magic Chip 2 v4 on a 30001R with a v4 board inside with the chip CXD2942BR also it has the 040 bios which the Magic Chip people say will work as posted on their diagrams at there website. Well it does NOT WORK Games start to load then go to a black screen never finishing I also installed a (R) chip in this same PS2 The results: PS2 BAckups - RED SCREEN OF DEATH!
Side note: this is the second time I have tried this both times the same results.
Lesson learned: NEVER AGAIN! On these oddball PS2's just is not worth the hassle.

LOD,
To be clear, this CXD2942BR was a v4R.
Have you tried a V4 CXD2942AR and if so what happened?

Someone else is asking as they are having a problem and suspect compatibility.

I should be happy that I didn't order a chip yet. I guess I will either have to get another PS2 or wait and hope the US Messiah will work on my v4R (if it ever gets released). I can get a barely used V7 for < $100, any input on build quality and compatability with the various no swap chips?

Magic 2 is fine on v7 US. I've got one and it does everything that messiah does on the PAL v5. Everything.
$100 for v7 - do it now!
