    Hi,

I have problem with 2 V9 mobos. I have picture and sound, the tray can be opened, but CAN NOT be closed. The problem appear after moding. It is not the LA/LB, and the drives works fine on another mobo. I check all fuses, and only this one was damaged.
( attachments ) I change it but everything is the same.
I must say that I have large experience with moding and this is first serious problem that I can't solve.
The modchips are mini apple 3 and neo 12.

    Thank you !

there are some things that you have to check,
check that point 22 (your image) is 0V when tray is closed and high when tray is opened, if not you have a shortcut on that area, if the point 22 is ok so you have to check pin 15 and pin 16 on the LA6508, turn on your osciloscope,
pin 15 tray closed or opened but no movement you get 0V
pin 16 tray closed and no movement you get 3.3V
pin 16 tray opened you get 0V

now, when the tray is closed and you push eject you should get a flat 3.3V on pin 15, but if you push eject when the tray is opening or opened you must get a square wave on the oscilloscope (10uM) that inform to the LA that must close the tray, if you get the square wave ok so the problem is after that (bad LA or a shortcut in pin 5 or pin 6 of the LA (this to legs move the tray, be carefull becouse the pin 5 usually get shortcuted with 12V when you change LA fuse), so check it all and get back to me,
    regards

    psxgameshop,

That's not a Fuse. Actually is a ferrite bead.

It is used as a noise suppression on the open/close lines for the tray.
For the rest do follow xcode suggestion.

    Forgot to add:

Check also the flat cable, the problem might be there.

I never checked it, but someone once told me that they removed those 10K resistors from the open/close tray lines of the V9 Loy.
I have a V9 to mod later and I will check.

    Regards,
    Chip&Chop.

Thank you for your help !

I have checked everything that xcode suggest but no results. Point 22 from my picture have always 0V. There is no shortcut in that area. I followed the signal from point 22 and it was going to the entrance of the CXR706080 ( Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.)
I think that part of that chip is damage.
About LA6508 I have changed it with brand new ( two new LA's ) and nothing happened.

    regards,
    psxgameshop

if you open the tray point 22 is 0V?, if that the case there is your problem, when tray is open point 22 it must be high.

do you get a square wave on pin 15 on LA when you push eject to close? if you get a square wave then CXR706080 is ok

check that, I'm working in another solution for that problem, it would be finish on monday or tuesday, but I need to know if you get a square wave on pin 15.
    regards.
