ok guys i am about to mod a ps2 v12 for the first time. i have modded loads of xbox's so the soldiering is not a problem for me. i do need help when it comes to choosing a chip and lazer fix options. ive been reading these threds for a few days to build my knowladge, it always helps.
i know the v12 has problems but i gotta mod this thing.
i got all the wire and tools ect but i just need to know these two things because i only want to do this once .... cheers guys!

What chip is the best for the v12?...i was thinking magic???

The fix needs to be done, i have found a fix board .... http://www.mrmodchips.com/catalog/pr...roducts_id=117
but do i need to use the 560 resistor fix aswell?

someone else can correct me if im wrong but here it goes

That board is the resistors (pretty much) just on a neat easy board, and it has the pic fix or w/e, i think this is an all in one solution and you dont
need any other fixes if you use it

And as far as i know the mod chip is rly up to you, i dont think any are better or worse for the v12, just depends what you want

it is diode plus pic fix on one board.

The doide fix is proven not to save a pstwo from a mechacon crash (it will blow past them!) and the pic fix cannot save the ps2 during poweron.

the MagicX doesnt require a fix and for PSTwo modchips I recoomend the O2Mod as it is my personal fav. NTSC version should b instores probably by the end of the month. As for foxes, I havent modded any v12's yet but the SummOne fix looks like a winner.

    ok guys. thanx for replys.
i guess this magic chip doing the rounds seems to be going good with no fixes, if i put magic in my V12 with somones fix and this nice little board will it be ok or too much?.......also it would be good if i could see a foundmy fix picture i would like to know how to do that

I would recommend a fix, even with the Magic chip. They say that it solves all of the laser problems, but I have yet to see any proof or testing on this... Also, check into the "switch fix" talked about in http://ps2newz.net/forums/showthread.php?t=31462 Foundmy fix works on the V12, but I haven't seen a new diagram on the V12.1 or 12.2 (whatever it's being called). Haven't heard back from foundmy yet either... Diagram attached.

cheers madison..... ive been looking at some supplyers here in the UK, nobody seems to stock the magic chip so that may be a problem after all.
i can get hold of most other chips, i think i will choose the matrix infinity or o2....which one do you guys sugest??

Between those two, I would pick MI, but only based on personal preference. I don't have a ton of experience with O2, but I can tell you the MI has probably been the best chip I've come across in four years of modding...

In either case, I think it would be better than the Magic, they have not had a great reputation from the beginning. Anyone who's been around the scene for a while can verify that. They may be better now though, don't know as I haven't used the new Magic chips.

looks like i'll be fitting the MI along with the somones fix and the board in the link further up the page.... are there any diagrams which show you the differance between the V12+v12.1 that i keep reading about?

why isn't this as straight forward as the XBOx? lol
