100% booting method for DMS3....
I've decided to post a booting method for the DMS3 chip that works for me, as I've had a couple of my customers have problems getting 100% booting reliability from the chip.
The usual DMS3 booting instructions can be a bit vague for some, so that's another reason for this thread.
I didn't want to put this post into the FAQ & Guides section, as that part doesn't get looked at very much. Not as much as here anyway. :p
Before I continue though, if your used to booting your PS2 with any other chip apart from the DMS3, then you must NOT boot it using the reset button like you do with most chips.
Here's my sure fire way of getting 100% booting reliability, but that's if there's nothing wrong with the mod chip or the laser of your PS2:
PS2 Games (This method is very critical, so follow it to the letter)
Your PS2 MUST be in standby mode.
(1) Turn your PS2 on from standby using the eject button
(2) Insert the PS2 game into the tray
(3) Press the eject button to close the tray
(4) The game should now boot
When you want to change games in mid stream, just power off the PS2 using the reset button, then go to step one of the above.
PSX games
Doesn't matter if the unit is in standby mode or not.
(1) Turn on the PS2 using either the reset or the eject buttons
(2) Insert the PSX game into the tray
(3) Press the eject button to close the tray
(4) Press and hold the reset button until it goes into standby mode
(5) Hold down the circle button on your controller and tap the reset button
(6) Hold down the circle button for at least 3 seconds
(7) The game should now boot
For DVD movies, its exactly the same proceedure as the PSX one, but you hold down the square button instead of the circle.
I hope tha above helps for people encountering booting issues with the DMS3.

bug in dms3 v9 with mx bios
i think there's a bug in the chip - i've done about 20 dms3 v9 in 50002's and have the ps2 stall after the ps2 logo with dvd-r games (orginal and backups) after pressing reset, but if i insert a game by pressing eject and eject again, the game will boot. This is a very common problem which dms team is yet to fix (there are many posts about it at dms.com forums). If X is pressed at startup the game will start, also, when the controller is not plugged in to slot 1 they start as well - with previous dms3's games are meant to start without all these procedures.
