You cant go online with s2 with a backup. The newest patch detects MI. The rest of the games I have tried do go online.

The reason this is important to me is yes i can play my backups of my original online as long as the chip shuts off obviously. I know i can do this because i play my backup of madden online using the magic swap disc, so please dont dispute the fact that I can play backups online. And yes im very interested in homebrews which i also use with out a modchip. Im useing almost all the homebrews that are offered on this forrum. Also thank you everyone for your help! I decided to go with the matrix chip! Cause the chip is reliable and has the sleep mode. Also about homebrews, I dont need the chip to load them up if i can do it already without a chip. All i need to to is put in a specific PSX disc to load them.

They banned me for 1 day. But I was out of it at the speed of burning a prgm onto the cd and booting up and switching some numbers around. Wink Wink,

chais82 About the modchip you are asking...The sollution is simple..THe best modchip is the one you already have(DOn't FRY ME G).What I mean is there is no point in ordering another chip better for such a feature.You can go online with a bakup even with a VERY old neo chip as long as you patch it correctly.Do not ask how as it is againist the forums policy.
Also if the chip is not manually disabled (MANUALLY I NOTE!!!!!) you can't go online with an Original.All these stealth bull#%t and power off after boot is more commercial trick as not difference is made in DNA games.PMS3 can be disabled so it will cost you 0$ .Now if it gives you any troubles in the install (and it MAY...) then you should throw it out of the window and seach for another one.
My personal Ladder is
--O2mod first(Like I said before it is like the LINUX for the modchips.Not flashy but with many UNSEEN features!!!) (But for PAL only unless you have a v12)
---Crystal second.Yes it had been a bad batch but come on people.nobody is perfect.It is nice Easy and has many followers and nice BOOTMANAGER.(The windows of the modchip
---Third the Infinity.Yes it is a nice chip indeed and has been tested thourhoughly but I think it doesn't have the "something" to trigger the buyer.Nor Extra features Neither the Unprecedented Bootmanager.

-LAST the PMS TEAM.It can indeed make your life a hell especially if you are an installer.I thought I was a pro but dealing with these babies gave me a hard time especially on V3.V4.Also is the only mods in my career that I have seen to burn and for no apparnt reason.After 8 months of use someone pressed power and tsouf....

Now if you don't care about the features and you just want to play games I would suggest the Ghost2 and the Duo mod,

PSYou can go ONLINE with ANY backup as long as you are sure you do have the original DNA.The reports of socomII banning peoples machines is because they intergrated a special DNA check and IF 2 same diskID are online the both get BANNED and anyone else who ever uses it.Now if you have backup up your original S2 disc then Nobody should have your diskID so quit compaining and accuring the chips... )

vERY GOOD INFO MAN I APRECIATE IT MUCH! bUT I THINK THAT THE CHIP NEEDS TO SHUT OFF AFTER BOOTING THE BACKUP AND NOT INSTALL A PATCH ON THE DISC! Nope.If the game is patched the routine that detect the modchip is disabled.I have been doing it for some time so I know what I am talking about. EVERY mod can go online even the PMS.Without patching you can only go online to VEEEEEEERY old games before the DNAS age but still no steath mode is needed.

P.S. is it a seperate program then the image patcher and dnas utility?

What patch ? The patch can be done two seperate ways (direct iso patch - image patcher - or patching the DNAS files - disk id insertor -) using your DNAS ID from your ORIGINAL disk. So seems Minos knows what he is talking (good job mate, your description was wonderfull) and what I wanted to say about 20 posts earlier. Sleep mode - belive it or not - won't help, but it's a good marketing blab. Matrix Team used to use those slogans, just like the Ripper guys, but man, their old MXL2 and the new MXL4 are also "sleep" compatible, which is ok, but almost totally useless.
