1/3 boots, 1/3 red screen, 1/3 gold disk in a v3 with a duo2se

As the topics states, It will boot backups about 1/3 of the time, 1/3 gold disc to the browser and 1/3 red screen. Is this the controller points? I hate these older ones. I can do all the bios pins fine, vias and everything else no prob but those controller legs get me. Does that sound like its the controller legs?
