@ Charlie_PS2 - Messiah 2 1.30 "silvers" issue question...
Just a quick one for you - I received some new Messiah 2 stock - the sticker identifies them as V1.30, and I was a little concerned about the "silvers" issue. A few of my customers live overseas and have access to cheapo pressed silvers - what I wanted to know was if the problem only rears its head with a true V8 machine - just chipped a Sakura limited edition true V8 Japanese machine, and sure enough it doesn't like them. Sometimes it loads them, other times they appear in the browser as an audio CD, sometimes it just freezes on a black screen.
If I use this stock of v1.30 chips on v7 and lower machines, will this problem be irrelevant? Will a V1.30 chip only reject silvers on a V8 console?
I know there's a theory being kicked around that this hitch is a side effect of the more-complex-than-anyone-thought issue with DVD-R on v8 consoles, but I'm also told, I think in a post by yourself, that the problem has been rectified and future Messiah 2 firmware will reflect this. Can you shed any light on this?
I've always been proud to offer only the Messiah and Messiah 2 chips as I've always been confident to advise people that there is no disc they will not handle - my main reason for never, ever having any involvement with Magics, Apples, clones and all the other "compromise" mods as I think of them. I suppose I just want to make sure that any future stock I get will have the silvers problem fixed so I can claim the above and not worry that I'm going to get a call from someone saying their collection of old silvers is refusing to boot with the supposedly bulletproof Messiah 2.
Is there going to be some way of identifying new firmware? Might it be called V1.30a or similar?
There's probably already a post answering this, so apologies for wasting everyone's time if that's the case :)
Thanks for any help in advance - the internet is a better place for forums as helpful and technical as this one!
