Will a v1 board work on a v3 console?

A ps2 v3 has a fried board can it be preplaced by a v1 board?

I could be wrong, but on the v1 the cd cables are both on the edge of the board and relatively the same size as each other, while the v3 has one cd cable connector on the edge of the board and another more towards the middle of the board. And this connector looks bigger than the one on the v1.

If you look at the install diags on the magic site, you will see what I am talking about.
