I just finished installing the chip.

I used 30 guage and 22 guage for reset and ground

I checked points with multimeter all are fine.

Then i assembled back the ps2 but the eject light does not come on and it does not eject.

however the reset light comes on and i can reset and put ps2 to standby but eject does not work.

Im very worried right now i dont know what else to do since there is NO eject light, i cant eject and video does not show. I turn on console hit reset but all i see is black screen and i DONT hear the disk spinning.

    Any Ideas??

    Thanks for helping.

All above applies to posts below.

    This is afterwards
Ok This is after removing the chip I just added it to the thread

I removed the chip and all wires from the board but still the same problem.

The usual reason is something wrong with the Reset/eject cable. It might not be properly clamped on the motherboard; it might be kinked and damaged; it is long enough to get caught by a screw. If you are lucky, that's what it is.

If not, you'll need to go over the board with a very stron magnifying glass and look for solder bridges or solder balls behind the BIOS legs.

I hope that the heat conducting pads are on the BA58 chip (if you can see a chip with BA58xxxx legend, then the heat conductor is off and that chip (runs on 12v) may have burned out. That's the worst that could have happend.

usually it's one of the first two.

Please also search the forum on the word EJECT. It's happened before.

I looked at the ribbon it looks fine. I also checked the BA58 chip that had the pad on it. but the other one did not have the pad on it the BA666 the one near the reset and eject cable. Oh man i really need to fix this thing as fast as possible. I feel like crying right now

I saw no solder spash or balls laying around. How do i know now that something burned out or even worse

    any help please

Then the BA58 didn't burn out (IMHO). The BA66 is only 5v so don't worry if it didn't have a heat conductor.

So now's the time to use the search button like I suggested.

I disconnected reset wire from the board but its still the same.
switched v3.45 to alt point still no luck.

I have the color fix point installed (V7 PS2 im refering to all this post) can this be it. Im so tired right now.

    and i did a search
    here's what came up
    ===================

    =Check fuse PS11
=check with multimeter the bois pin or B C connections.
    =Check fuse PS11.
=If is dead check the side from BA chip with the ground if is 0 then BA chip is gone
    =Sounds like a bridge
=Check all the connections good and look for solder on the board. I had that problem with my old V7. There was a little drop of solder above the bios. Tray wouldn't open.
=check for splashes OF SOLDER in the big squeare chip
    $ony computer entertainment
    CXD 18860
    c2000 SCEI
    223F34N J

=Thanks for the replies & help by all of you here.
Anyway, the mod work after I done the following steps.
The very 1st time after I installed everything including
the colour fixed, the console only power up with reset
green light, no eject light, fan spining, no display.
After that I disconnected the SCEX, 3.3v & colour fixed,
the console boot up normally with original PS2 DVD & CD.
villasg stated that might be the reset cable fault install
but is was correct after I checked.
But I still disconnected the reset wire and reconnected
back the 3.3v wire. Console boot up with original DVD & CD.
I started to reconnect back the reset & SCEX wire one
by one, and to my suprise, the modchip work & the console
able to boot up backup PS2 DVD & CD.
Haven't connect back the colour fix at this point.
    What a strange problem!!!!
It had given my 2 night of not sleeping well.

    =blown fuse

GFX posted this in the recent Black Screen thread:

I had 2 PS2 V7 on the bench. One with no picture/sound or tray eject light.
The other all OK. It booted all games but the tray would not eject. (have tried this console with chip and without). Have tested all the fused ribbons...you name it, i tried it!!! Could not get the draw to open.

    What i did:

Took working BIOS chip from 2nd machine and put it in 1st machine. Still no picture/sound or eject. The one think i did notice is that when i removed the bios from machine 1. out of curiosity i powered it up (with no bios). I would still get no picture/sound - of course - but the eject light would come on and the tray would open and shut. STRANGE!!!!

I then placed BIOS 1 in console 2 and all would work as normal but the tray would still not work.

IN MY CASE THIS MEANS NO SHORTS ON BIOS CHIP AND NO FAUTLY BIOS.

I then swapped both BA chips on both machines and got exactly the same results.

IN MY OPINION....TO MOST OF YOU THAT GET BLACK SCREEN....THIS ELIMINATES BIOS PROBLEMS AND OR BA CHIPS PROBLEMS (unless you've also blown a fuse somewhere)

I personally believe the problem lies with the cd/dvd controller chip affecting the boot up/initialization of the PS2

See what you make of that. Also check that the BA58 chip is hot by running the PS2 for a couple of minutes, lift the heat cap, ground yourself, touch the top of the BA58. If hot it's not dead. If not hot doesn't mean it's dead if it has nothing to do but ... well let us know.

Check the fuses (see fuse locations in the FAQ section).

Please go to page 4 of the v7 Disassembly instructions in the FAQ section and do the following checks with reference to the bottom photo:
    1. Check cable 2 very carefully. If this is not correctly seated or damaged Eject light won't work and the screen will be black
    2. Check the middle cable of set 3 that it is not upside down in its seating
    3. Check that all flat cables are properly seated in their clamps

Also look for solder balls behind the BIOS legs.

    Let us know.
