weird crystal chip 1.1 problem
weird crystal chip 1.1 problem –
02-19-2006,02:50 PM
I modded a V3 PAL PS2 with CrystalChip 1.1.
The weird thing is:
I double checked all solder joints for continuity. Im a pretty good at soldering, cause it is my job.
The LED (1.1 CC feature) lights green all the time the console is powered on.
The Ps2 quickly detects the ps2 CC Upgrade Disc, but fails to boot after 1 second and returns to the ps2 menue, where one can start the game manually by pressing the x button. Pressing x results in trying to boot but fails and so on.
It is 100% safe that there is no soldering problem. I even tried another DVD Unit and another Crystal Chip. The damn LED stays green all the time.
It is told on Crystal Chip Homepage this shows an BiosRom error. Is the BiosRom chip meant, available as a gap and a non gap version at V3?
What Chip is meant to search the failure, even if im sure that soldering is good.
Thanks for helping.

The LED will shut down the same as with wires A - I if H was the problem. You have 2 of the bios wires swopped. W and R or M and N or O and P.

NO, the diagram in the link is correct, I had the same thing happen to me and as soon as I move HA to the DVD controller light went out and all was well

Maybe your ribbon didn't get seated correctly when you put the system back together. That's why you couldn't read any discs. It just gives up because the ribbon that controls the hub motor is not seated back in all the way. Just a thought.
I've done CC 1.1 on a v8 and no problems.
