Video Mode Problems –
06-22-2006,03:32 PM
Hi
I'v installed my crystal chip yesterday. I'm a noob in PS"
modding but I've done many similar mods on
my WLan Router and sat receiver.
I use FW 1.9 and BM 1.8
I have problems to run progs from the Bootmanager
I have a PAL PS2v14 and a PAL TV.
The manual of the TV tells NTSC with 4,43MHz is supported
Example SMS 1.7rev4, PAL version:
Sometimes it won't start up sometimes it will. I think this is related
to video settings but I'm unsure which one.
When it starts I the whole screen flickers and it is unusable.
I tried the SMS 1.7rev4 CD image. With it there is no flicker but all
colors are wrong. Blue is red, people are looking blue etc.
How do I have to set up video in the bootmanager?
At the moment I use these settings:
PS2 Software ->
NTSC Software Video Fixes: On
Force Video Mode: PAL
Force Color: PAL
PAL Software video Fixes: Off
With this settings SMS won't even start.
PS2 Software ->
NTSC Software Video Fixes: On
Force Video Mode: Auto
Force Color: Auth
PAL Software video Fixes: On
Force Video Mode: Auto
Force Color: Auth
Now SMS starts and the colors are lookgin OK.
Unfortunatly there are shadows all over the screen and it looks like
the video signal is send twice, the second time moved a little bit to the right.
After disabling position fix for ntsc the shadow is gone but only a part of the screen is used.
When I change display from auto to PAL in SMS the screen is used full.
Unfortunatly SMS is crashing when I try to save the configuration
Now SMS won't start anymore again. This seems to be a bug when mc0:/SMS exists but there is no configuration file in it.
Long Story and here is my question:
Which video mode I'm using?
I'm a little bit confused how I have to set up my PS2.
Cheers,

To stop the vertical hold problem (flickering).
set "Force V-Sync" = 50Hz

Where can I set this setting?
In the Bootmanager or in the application.
I've searched the forum but didn't found any hint.

Sorry, I just saw You are using BM 1.8, this setting is available on v1.4 BM.

So what should I do now?
Downgrade to BM 1.4?

Leave the Firmware as is. No harm in trying BM1.4, not to sure though how well it will work with v14 consoles. I know PSOne screen fix won't work.
BM v1.8 has to many bugs.
