    Pretty much straight forward.....
I installed the CC 2.0 SLE into my v12 last nite along with the neo fix XIV , following the manual from mod-chip.com.

ALL tests were positive for modchip and Neo , I even did the secondary test for continuity on all of the CDVD wires to the DSP pins. I checked them from the chip to the pins and all were good.

I turn on the ps2 and the main browser screen comes up , and it says "There is no data".

I have tried it with many different discs , then I find out that the discs are not even spinning. I removed the case and tried to work it out with everything out in the open (so I can see for myself that the lid switch is being pressed). The laser itself will move occasionally with the press and release of the lid switch , but the disc never spins....

I thought maybe a power problem (HOPING) so I removed the Neo Fix , no change , then I removed the 3.3 wire from the CC. You will notice it missing in my picture. Still no change.

I know it isn't the best noob install ever , some wires probably cross to much , but I wouldn't think my install would cause this problem..... What with continuity tests passing and all.........

The unit worked fine before the install , and I am waiting for some advice before I take the chip out.

Everything looks ok under 10x magnification , so I dunno.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Sounds like your CD Laser assembly is not pluged back in.

Did you plug in the CD Laser assembly all the way ?
Did you damage the ribon cable for the assembly ?

I thought the same thing too , but the ribbons all look ok , and they feel firm in their clips , both on the mainboard and on the laser assembly.

I read on mod-chip.com that if after reinstallation of the dvd drive , if it it fails to spin that the DVD Drive Chip could be damaged (burned out). How is this tested? It also says that the NEo Fix install could be faulty. But since I have removed the Neo Fix and it still doesn't work......

Will the disc motor turn the disc if the laser has been damaged or burned out?
I can see the laser move into position when i press the lid switch down , but the disc motor never starts....

SO , Either a modded v12 won't work period without the Neo Fix OR my drive is burned. I just need to know how to figure which one.....

Update: I have checked continuity between the ribbons from the motor and everything checks out. Laser moves into position as usual , disc motor never starts up..... I have heard of lasers burning out , but the disc motors?

Is there anything else that controls when the disc spins? Does the laser need to read that something is there before it starts to spin it?

i had a simmaler problem and i thought i checked the ribbons as well. but then someone pointed out that on the ribbon at the end there is the tin pads on one side. well one of those folded on itself when i was putting the ribbon back on to the board. so i took a small knife and bent it back and it worked fine. i don't know if it is the same with you but i wouldn't even of notic it unless it was pointed out to me it is hard to tell

thanks , I just tried it , but still no go , I even check continuity from motor to mother board , all is good , so ribbon is good. It's probably an IC chip , I gotta go search for info on how to use a multimeter for checking that rs2004 chip.
    thanks for the help guys!
