Strange BM effect: a question for Pros...
Strange BM effect: a question for Pros... –

Dear All, I'm recently experiencing a strange behavior with my HDloader. First of all, I got a V9 PS2, modded with CC 1.2 with latest hacked firmware and BM, NA + 300 GB HDD, HDloader 0.8b. I usually launch my applications directly from the MC (through BM), so that I don't need to use cds or dvds. I also usually use HDLoader from the MC and everything works like a charm; however, I've recently added to my games collection on HDD 2 games: Digital Devil Saga 1 & 2, and I'm having some troubles with them. Actually, when I try to launch from HDL (MC ->BM ->HDL) menu one of those 2 games I get the black screen and the PS2 hangs.
Since I was really curious about this malfunctioning, because both the games are listed as "fully working" on every compatibility chart that I could find on the net, I tried to launch both the games on Dvd: strikingly, when I booted them in "Enhanced mode" I got the same error as with HDL (black screen, PS2 hangs), but the games worked perfectly when booted in "Minimal mode". Moreover, thinking about something related to the BM could be responsible of this malfunctioning, I tried to boot HDL from a Dvd without using a MC (and thus no BM) and I got both of the 2 games working but, surprisingly, not working if the Dvd had been prevoiusly launched from the BM. The last trial I did was launching ULE from MC (through BM) and then HDLoader from ULE and the games worked perfectly again.
So, my question is: is there some option I can switch to adjust my BM to make my HDL play those games, when launched from MC through the BM itself??? If only could there be a way to boot my HDL in "minimal mode" or something, I would be very happy to know it... ;-)

First you could try to set Mode 3 in HDL, which kills HDL and should also clear any remains of BM from the PS2 RAM. If that doesn't work you can add the SHUTDOWN "MM" to the HDL APPINFO.PBT, that disables BM before starting HDL and is the same as Minimal Mode for discs.

Friend, YOU ARE REALLY SOMETHING!! I was nearly getting crazy trying all the day without any result!! Mode 3 didn't work, but SHUTDOWN "MM" in HDL APP.INFO worked just fine!!
Dear Jones, you have my gratitude.
