Could be but I'm not completely sure. Try playing the game without BM and see if it acts up when playing if it doesnt might be the card. Also if your using a codes it could also be that. codes I used before froze up a couple of my games.

hey i had just bought a slim ps2 and had cc chip installed at the same time. then a couple months later it started acting up, while playing nfs most wanted no less. but i don't think it is the game cause it would'nt read anything so it could'nt be the chip either, and then i was stumped? but i figured it was just something loose wit the laser so i opened it up and realized i did'nt know what the hell i was doing, lol. but then i just closed it back up tight and now it works great. so it was just a case issue interfering with the laser? not sure.

    Well here's an update:

I have changed the position of my PS2 from vertical to horizontal and it makes a little bit of difference. When my game freezes the console is very warm, but is not so hot that you burn your hand.

I have read that perhaps the fitter missed the X point so I am going to open the PS2 up and check everything, maybe even shorten the wiring if needs be.

I have stopped running Boot Manager which also gives me extra play time; using the MaxMemory card shortens my play time, but an original PS2 one doesn't give me much more juice.
