At the bottom I read:
***note: Since 2006-01-13 Crystal Chip 1.1 will ship with a 128kbyte Serial Flash instead of a 4kbyte EEPROM.
What does that mean? Nothing is said!
I wonder what 128 kb flash will do to my PS2? Will this make my PS2 -> BOOT, for exampel from an USB unit instead of the playmemory?
Is it worth waiting for 128kb flash?

Is it possible to use USB-HD with the PS2 version14 and crystal 1.1?

Kind of annoying, I bought an original CC1.1, 3 weeks before this.
PSTwo V14 SCPH-75002a: Crystal Chip 1.1
XBox 1.6b: SmartXX v2.0

yes, the flash is so much quicker.
so we (foundmy.com) has labeld the flash version as 1.1F to prevent any issues.
they cost a little more as well. but honestly, its nice.

It's just for faster flashing. Lot's of users were complaining that the chips weren't flashing correctly. The issue really was that they were turning off their consoles before the flashing was complete. There are no plans to use the rest of the flash capacity or alienate older users.

this is just what they were trying to avoid. They never made the announcement of the flash fully public because they were afraid people would take the news the wrong way. Now here you come creating your own name scheme and adding dollars. The CC team got a great deal on the serial flash compared to the eeproms.
The price difference should be none or an extreme minimal. If users see a dramatic increase from their resellers then complain and don't buy from them anymore.

Agent: I understand where you are coming from. Since we carried both and the costs difference was there (new shipping costs) things do add up.
But we are selling them cheaper than most places. (only $33 for single qty and giving a ps2 joystick ext. cable too) for the new flash version.
And this way, if customers hear about the new flash version (news from CC site dated Friday, 13 January 2006) they can see that we do carry it without emailing us to see if we have that version instock.
I do call it CC 1.1F Lite or i can maybe change it to Crystal Chip 1.1 Lite (new flash IC version) which should i be calling it? Let me know.

I agree the cost should be the same as you buy so many. And I can't see how the shipping would be any more unless you are buying like 10,000 of them. But if you did buy that many I am sure you would be saving even more per chip. My guess the breakdown on your cost is about $16.00 - $17.00 per chip.
