See spinning blue disc screen at startup, nothing boots from there!
Finally, I was sure I had a perfect install on the slim (with my CC 2.0). The led test actually only did blink for a split second, I knew that was good.
Did the pin test on the other wires I was able to, those were good.
Started up the console with the v34 burned image, then yay!. I heard the startup tune and saw video! But then after the load screen, I got this screen I never saw before.
Just like a spinning blue disc in the center of the screen (says playstation 2 in the upper right corner) and along the bottom were the options X (to start/boot disc) and another button to go back.
I hit the X button, the screen goes black for a second, then it returns right back to that same screen.
Damn!
Like I said, the bios and pin tests were all good. The HA, 3v3, and ground wires are all that I can't test, but I double and triple checked them, resoldered them, and can't see why there would be a problem with them.
So given the tests, I'm 99% sure the install is good, yet the boot cd wouldn't even start.
And the console is literally brand new. Newest v15, 2 days out of the box. So there were no old or worn out parts.
I was baffled, still am. Despite my dvd/cd wires passing the test, I decided to resolder them yet again, no luck. Then I decided to not use the "F" point as I really didn't need it and maybe it was bumping heads with other points in that small area.
So I took that out and resoldered the rest of the wires yet again.
Now this time, there was no sound!
Took apart and resoldered again, no sound or video! Took the modchip completely off and same thing.
Now I've got a broke ps2, but I just returned it for a new one!
But I want to prevent this from happening. Shame that CC wiki site is down, I never saw it, and so I'm having problems troubleshooting and the manual is of little help when it comes to that.
Btw, when I was getting the spinning disc screen, that disc turned like gold if I tried to boot a normal ps2 game, and maybe blue for any cd's or whatever. So I should note here that the console did recognize the type of disc I had in, also I was able to see the laser moving and working.
I downloaded that v34 cue/bin zip. I burned the cue file at 8x with my sony cd-r which have always worked great, especially on sony products, obviously. (also tried 16x as I was getting desperate).
Now from my understanding, and I could be totally wrong, is it true that after the chip install that you should just slap that cd in, power on the console, then from there be taken to the menu where you can flash and install BM and those types of things?
Am I possibly missing something here? Or was my luck just bad again and perhaps I had some bad wiring despite my install tests passing? My 15x magnify inspection also passed! Couldn't see ANY bridged joints.
And if you guys say that I did the flash right (just put the disc in and start it up), then I'm really lost.
Is there something other than the v34 disc that can maybe get me going here?
