Rsod on Firmware install
Hi I recently installed a cristal chip in my ps2 V9 gh-23 board i did the romeo mod. Now when i boot the ps2 with no cd in i get the regular browser \ configuration screen then if in insert a game (fifa 2004) it reads it brings me to the screen where you have the memory card \ game cd if i select game cd it kinda reads <-- :chinscrat but brings me back to the memory card \ game cd screen i tried changing the cd for the firmware install but when i stick it in it gives me Rsod. The chip it self on boot on led goes on then off right away <-- good sign if i disable it reset 6 times my game loads without any problems.
Im using kodak cdr's for the firmware cd my minimum burning speed is 8x if you need more info please let me know.
I apreciate all the help i can get
Thanks

There are two things happening here.
First, your originals are not booting because the chip is not flashed with the hacked firmware. This is why it returns to the screen that shows "PS2 disc".
Second I'm assuming the firmware disc is giving you the RSOD because one or more of your CDVD points (A, B, F, G, H, I and HA) is incorrect or loose.
With an original the CDVD points do not need patching from the chip so all the chip needs to do is patch the bios, which its doing and since you dont have a hacked bios installed to the chip it wont boot even originals with out disabling it.
Good luck.
