Red Screen of Death... Please read! –
OK so i read about EVERY post in here and tried it all... I'm an electronics tech in the Air Force and know that i got the damn CC2 in correct. I read a post from a member with the same issue as me but i still have mine...
The issue is NOTHING will load. I know you need to flash with a hacked ver to get anything to really load up. My originals kick back to the PS@ Browser and i have not had a single disk( and I've burned about 10 now 5 hacked and 5 official) that will load and allow me to flash the chop or install BM. all i ever get is the Red Screen of Death or if i throw in an original it dose the "back to Browser for you" thing. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT. Sorry about the caps but I'm running out of black cdrs and patience Thanks in advance guys!
Sounds like the lens is either in need of cleaning or adjusting.
Heres a link for adjusting, hopefully it applies to your version of PS2:
SCPH-30001 [V4] - unmodded (2)
SCPH-30001-R [V5] DMS4 Pro SE
SCPH-50001-N [V9] CC 2.0 SLE
SCPH-79001 [V16] Silver - unmodded
Are you sure you burned it correctly?
I always use Nero Burning Rom, choose burn image from the recorder menu, select the bin file and set Mode2. Never had any prob with that procedure. Use good quality media (e.g. Verbatim) and burn as slow as possible.
I guess you refer to the thread by sputnikk23 here: http://www.psx-scene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49764
He forgot to solder 4 wires, so make sure every wire is soldered correctly in the right place and has propper connection.
best regards Jones23
ok so i used nero in mode 2 and no dice. that guide on how to "fix" your laser hight isnt for my ver. i have a ver 7 ps2. anyone have any idea? i had another tech in my shop double check my install and it all checked out...
I think you can still use that guide, you can adjust the lens hight for every "chubby" PS2 afaik, only silm ones can't be adjusted.
Have you tried to disable the chip (power on, then 6x reset), to see if it works without the chip?
If no, laser issiue, if yes, chip installation issiue.
Black CD-R's are about the worst you could be using for CD-R's. Just use regular ol' verbatim CD-R's.
But either way its not a laser/disc quality issue otherwise the PS2 would return and "unable to read disc" or simply keep trying to boot it with no error message. The fact that you are getting the RSOD proves that the PS2 can read the data and determine that its not a PS2 formatted disc. I would have to assume its your install or the way the disc was burned.
maybe if you can post a picture of your work?
that was a typo sorry lol. i ment BLANK cdrs. i havent even seen a black one in years... anyhow i'll keep at it and post if i get through so others can learn from whatever it is i did wrong
I had a similar problem with the RSOD as sputnik I checked and rechecked my wiring, resoldered a few, checked/removed even possible solder bridges and then it just worked. As soon as I got the wiring nailed the cc-upgrade disc just booted. I know it's quite a frustrating process but I was utterly convinced my wiring was perfect as well, before it actually was!
