is it just the ps2's bugs or its because of the modchip?

Probably due to a bad quality DVD-R. Look here to see which are good: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
I only use Verbatim.

im using fuji... i guess thats 2nd class.... but my other games seem alright.
My CrystalChip 1.2 has been working fine for months now... there was some confusion on the version however because it has a CrystalChip 1.1 sticker on it.
Anyway, I just installed this from the burnt CD and it seemed like it worked like a charm. I restarted and nothing happens. Now all I see is a black screen, I can't boot to recovery mode, I can't boot in Hardware Sleep Mode. PLEASE, someone help me. I do not want to take this thing apart /again/.
I used a verbatim DVD-R with MLB 06 - The Show, it runs slow as well. This is with any of the firmwares though... maybe it's just the game?
Sorry! This is not even close to where I meant to post this. I'm not sure how it happened.Originally Posted by QuiescentWonder
Also, I just figured out the Edit option. I thought that it was an "Edit Quote" button and not two seperate ones. Once again, I apologize.
Try booting MLB 06 in minimal mode.
BM uses PS2Ram for video fixes, dnas-patch, etc...
Some games (like MBL) may need all of the PS2's Ram, but with some of it already used by BM those games will run slow. (videos stutter, short freezes)
I had similar probs with GTASA NTSC with activated NTSC to PAL conversion. When driving really fast through the city I sometimes seemed to drive through the air, because the textures weren't loaded fast enough.

As mentioned before, either minimal mode or better media should fix it.
Try a few different brands of media, sometimes it takes a while to find something that operates well (a lot of media is pretty poor quality these days and some PS2's are extremely fussy), generally media made in Japan is of the highest standard. Japanese media is often hard to find, If you're desperate and don't mind spending a little extra, Apple's media in jewel cases in generally Japanese made from either Taiyo Yuden or Maxell and should run well, Their Taiwanese media (sold in spindles) is ussually made by Mitsubishi Chemicals which is fairly decent). Else just shop around and look on the lables for "Made In Japan".
Remember the brand on the packet is frequently not the manufacturer. You can find out who actually made the media with DVD Identifier.

i tried minimal... not perfect... but a lot a lot better.
on a side note... who has played this game... cant figure out the baserunning. i try L1 and the symbol of the baserunner but they all end up running.
then get a better quality media and it should be perfect
